Ken G.

"The words “dry needling” sounded scary, particularly the prospect of someone sticking needles in my neck. But the minute I met Heidi I relaxed as she made sure she understood my neck pain and then clearly explained how she was going to help. I barely felt any needles! It felt more like someone was massaging my neck. And when I sat up, the greater range of motion in my neck was amazing. As a bonus, Heidi provided and demonstrated several stretching exercises to avoid a recurrence of my problem. Don’t be a coward like me. Try dry needling!"

WHAT IS DRY NEEDLING?

A skilled intervention using a thin solid filiform needle to penetrate through the skin, connective tissue and deep into the muscle to release muscle tension, disrupt pain signals, increase blood flow and normalize inflammatory responses.

WHAT TO EXPECT...

With the dry needling you can expect to feel a deep pressure as the needle is inserted with occasional zing sensation like a hitting your funny bone that lasts less than a second. Immediately after dry needling you will feel looser in the muscles and more mobility in surrounding joints followed by a few hours of aching. By the next day you should feel less ache and significant change in your pain symptoms.

WHO COULD BENEFIT?

Anyone with musculoskeletal pain may benefit from dry needling. However, dry needling is not a stand alone treatment and is most effective when combined with a thorough physical therapy evaluation and treatment of the musculoskeletal pain.
